Consists of two folders. Contains one letter dated 15 September 1919 to a Miss Smith, enclosing proof sheet of poem "The Girl with the Lint-White Locks" and an autographed ms. of poem "Eventail;" an undated letter to the literary editor of "The Daily Express" of London, complaining about a photograph of her that was published in that periodical; and ten letters dated 1935-1945 (some undated) to Robert Herring, editor of "Life and Letters Today." In the letters to Herring she discusses poetry and particularly praises Dylan Thomas. She also mentions Geoffrey Grigson, Kathleen Rainer, Rayner Heppenstall, and Cyril Connolly. These letters are accompanied by two sheets of notes from the dealer describing the letters.

Edith Sitwell was born on September 7, 1887 in Scarborough, England to Sir George Reresby Sitwell, fourth Baronet, and Lady Ida Emily Augusta Denison. In 1913, one of her earliest poems, “Drowned Suns”, was published in The Daily Mirror. Three years later, Sitwell began editing Wheels, an anthology of new verse that sparked controversy among conservative critics.
